Project Overview

Project: Glitch Gaming – E-Commerce Website for Gaming Accessories
Industry: Gaming / E-Commerce
Project Duration: 6 weeks
Role: UX/UI Designer, Researcher, Content Strategist
Tools Used: Figma, Mockup

Objective:
Design a visually immersive and intuitive e-commerce site for Glitch Gaming, a brand offering high-performance accessories for casual and competitive gamers. The goal was to create an experience that felt both epic and easy to shop.

The Problem

Gaming accessory sites often fall into two traps: they either feel too “techy” and overwhelming or too generic and corporate. Glitch Gaming needed a site that:

  • Felt bold, fun, and futuristic

  • Was easy to browse across devices

  • Clearly communicated the value and performance of its products

  • Built trust with visually skeptical gamers used to flashy but non-functional designs

Research & Discovery

Methods:

  • User Surveys: Focused on shopping preferences and frustrations (20+ respondents)

  • Competitor Analysis: Looked at sites like Razer, SteelSeries, and smaller niche shops

  • Gamer Interviews: Conducted short-form interviews with 6 gamers across casual, streamer, and e-sports types

Key Insights:

  • Gamers prefer a visually immersive experience but hate slow loading or clunky checkout

  • Mobile-first shopping is common—especially during drops or promos

  • Clear product specs and real-life photos matter more than “flashy” fake renders

  • Community vibes (e.g. reviews, user photos) build trust

UX Design Strategy

Primary Persona:
Chris, 24 – Twitch streamer and competitive FPS gamer who values sleek gear and quick shopping.

User Journey:

  • Homepage → Featured Gear → Product Detail → Compare Specs → Add to Cart → Checkout

Site Architecture:

  • Homepage

  • Shop by Category (Headsets, Keyboards, Mice, Controllers, Bundles)

  • Product Pages

  • Cart & Checkout

  • About / Contact / Support

Wireframes & Iterations:

  • Built low-fi flows in Figma, tested with 3 gamers

  • Refined CTAs, navigation bar placement, and filtering options

UI Design Approach

Visual Style:

  • Color Palette: Electric neon (purples, blues, and reds) on a dark theme background

  • Typography: Futuristic headers with clean, modern body fonts

  • Imagery: Realistic mockups, product overlays, and 3D-style shadow effects

Interactive Elements:

  • Hover-to-zoom product images

  • Quick add-to-cart buttons

  • Slide-in filter panel for mobile

  • Sticky checkout CTA for mobile and desktop

Branding:

  • Designed the Glitch Gaming logo and created a consistent iconography style

  • Developed brand voice: energetic, gamer-lingo-lite, and direct (e.g. “Power Up,” “Gear That Carries”)

Content Strategy

  • Homepage Copy: Punchy taglines like “Play Hard. Glitch Harder.”

  • Product Descriptions: Highlighted specs, comfort, compatibility, and gamer-tested results

  • Category Banners: “Clutch Control,” “Next-Level Audio,” “Built to Grind”

  • FAQ/Support: Clear return and shipping info to reduce pre-checkout drop-off

Outcomes

  • 100% of test users said the site “felt like a legit gamer store”

  • 60% preferred it over competitors in terms of speed and vibe

  • Navigation success rate during usability testing: 92% on first try

  • Responsive design praised during mobile testing: “clean and slick”

Lessons Learned

  • Gamers care about speed and authenticity: Flashy UI must still be performant and practical

  • The vibe matters: Every detail—from button labels to background color—helps build brand identity

  • Product info needs to be human + technical: Pair gamer-speak with real specs for max trust
